i’m a london-based finland-born empathy designer and artist. by creating for empathy as the outcome and not only with empathy as a part of the process (as is far more common), i aim to transform empathy from an individual feeling to a collective power through installations, tools and games, experiences and environments. my work breaks taboos and challenges social, cultural and behavioural norms in order to increase connection and collaboration beyond borders, between people of different cultures, generations, genders, races and values.

my practice is focused on fostering ‘issue-based cross-cultural empathy’ to tackle some of the key challenges of our time, such as racism, sexism, sexual harassment, the refugee crisis and the polarisation of politics, to fight the growing empathy deficit. having worked in london / tokyo / new york / helsinki, my work builds upon understanding and investigating the delicate relationships between empathy, culture, space and systems.

i recently graduated with distinction from a joint m.a and m.sc programme in ‘global Innovation design‘ from the royal college of art and imperial college london. a former classical archaeologist and ancient historian from oxford university, i spent years working as an award-winning brand strategist at saatchi&saatchi and adam&eveDDB in london.
